One of my very favorite desserts was chocolate pudding. My mom would buy the boxes with the powdered mix. My auntie would buy be the pudding in a tiny little can. Loved them both!! Something simple, inexpensive oto make for a quick treat is nice to have on hand during these times we are living through right now.
I have an old cookbook when was purchased 20 years ago from a local thrift store. This book has an entire section in making bulk mixes of all types. Only 5 basic ingredients to make the chocolate pudding mix. Easy on the pocket book and satisfying in the tummy.
Recipe:
1 1/2 cup sugar
5 cup nonfat dry milk
1 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Stir together all ingredients until throughly blended. Store i covered container in a cool place. Makes about 24 servings of pudding.
Chocolate Pudding:
1 1/4 cup chocolate pudding mix
1 egg beaten
2 1/2 cup water' 1 TBS butter
3/4 tsp vanilla
Place chocolate pudding mix in saucepan. Combine egg and water and stir into mix. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and is smooth. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Serve warm or chilled. Makes 6 servings.
Give this a try. Takes just a few minutes and costs less overall with items you have in your pantry. I have everything this recipe calls for in my pantry. Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!
